The Boatside Inn is in an ideal position to explore the region or venture further afield. Within a few miles you can visit Hexham Abbey, Hadrian's Wall, Chesters, Hexham Race course, take scenic walks up Warden Hill with its views of the confluence of the Tyne, cycle near the river Tyne, go bird watching and if you are lucky, you may even see a red squirrel. And the South Tyne is literally a stone's throw away. Hexham itself is a lovely market town, and is well equipped with shops of all sorts. You can even get a massage or beauty treatment at Naturel Therapies literally across our car park!

Travel a little further afield and you can see Alnwick Castle, the Alnwick Garden, Kielder Water, the Northumbrian coastline with its castles, fishing villages and unspoilt beaches.

Newcastle / Gateshead with its classic architecture, Metro shopping centre, Angel of the North, vibrant night life and quality museums and galleries is only 30 minutes away by car. Even the Lake District is only just over an hour away.

For those interested in sports, there are many great golf courses within easy reach, and the Tyne is now considered to be England's premier salmon river. The Boatside Inn has 2 fishing permit passes. Sailing, canoeing, cycling and amazing walks are all within easy reach.
